More Party Games

This a favorite prank from Ghost and Monster's cousins, Frankie and Ghoulie.

Cook a whole heap of spaghetti, rinse it off with cold water and toss into a large bowl. Put it in the fridge for a few hours.

Have guests either blindfolded or close their eyes tight. They have to stick their hands into the bowl and guess what what they are touching. The ewww factor comes in when you tell them it's monkey brains! Want even grosser? Add in some peeled grapes for eyeballs.

Keep the "monkey brains" hidden each time so all the guests are surprised.

I'm bringing some white chocolate Ghost lollipops to the party. Yummy! I found this fun recipe on Martha Stewart's site here. Ghost's scarf and mittens (made from sticks of gum) were inspired by Ghost's adorable wardrobe in Ghost Gets Dressed.

And from Halloweens past, here is my son... when I was still taller than him, hee hee... in the very merry middle of his t-rex obsession. He was one happy carnivore!

I Spy "Ghost Gets Dressed"... at the bookstore!

This weekend, I was shopping in my favorite children's bookstore, Curious George Goes To Wordsworth (it's in my 'hood, Harvard Square) when - - what do you know!! - - I spied the charming, lovely, and all-dressed-up Ghost Gets Dressed hanging out in the fabulous center display (all done up for Halloween, no less). The display was bright and magical, full of fun things to look at, play with, and of course, to read (this being a bookstore and all). Seeing "Ghost" there was a real treat, and I quickly snatched up a copy to take home with me!

After I left on that particular day, I realized I hadn't taken a photo of "Ghost" in the display! I would return later in the week, camera in tow, for another photo-op. Upon returning on Tuesday, "Ghost" had moved into another prominent spot (they sure move the merchandise around a lot in this store)! This time, I spied the little critter on a standing book shelf (still part of the Halloween display)!

It is especially fun to see a friend's book in an actual bookstore - - and even better when it is one of your favorite bookstores!! You just feel full of pride and happiness!! I wished "Ghost" well, and wished for the book to bring many young 'ghosties' lots of giggles and chuckles this Halloween (and all year 'round)!!!

Party Project- Ghost Gets Dressed

To celebrate the launch of Janee's new book, "Ghost Gets Dressed", Emily and I wanted to create a simple and fun project . How about a home made Ghost/Monster puzzle?

First we started with a sheet of cardstock and Emily drew and colored Monster and Ghost.
(Another option is to print out the cute coloring page on Janee's Ickleboo site and have your child color it.)



Then we drew lines on the back to help establish the puzzle shapes.


Cut the pieces...


...and play! We had Jesse try it out.

Henry and I had fun playing with our Ghost and Monster cut-outs. We thought maybe they'd like to go trick-or-treating themselves, but what to wear?! They told us they'd like to be bugs for a night.
