Back to School Week: Wow! School!

This oversized picture book finally convinced me of the benefits of the vertical spread. You know, where you need to turn the book on it's side to view? The simple text brings you through a full school day - and how could you not be excited when page after page starts with Wow! Several spreads need to be turned on their side, but for a reason, and to great effect. Wow! Teacher! (you get the scale of teacher to child), Wow! Music! (a chorus of children, with lyrics running around the border), Wow! Science! (More room for planets, dinosaurs, and nature this way).
I think getting kids excited about school starts at an early age, and there are so many great books for even new and nervous students to get excited about.
