Link Love: Andy J Smith

I think most illustrators try to strike a balance between working and promoting, and using social media in a positive way. My friend Andy J Smith is doing a great job at it, in my opinion.
He doesn't tweet or blog much, but does so with purpose and insight. Where he really shines online, is Facebook. He poses these great kid-related questions and it sparks a fun dialogue amongst a talented peer group. He shares work in progress and usually asks (and is genuinely seeking) opinions from others.
His work has always been excellent, but his latest style diversion catches my eye every time I see it. I love that piece above. Mostly digital, blending found items like paint swatches and newspaper. I can't wait to pick up a gorgeous trade book in this style - it's the type of illustration that you want to get a real close look at! Follow his facebook page, and you'll see what I mean.
