LOVE the list!! I do have one book I'd add (I actually have two, but one of them I can't remember the name of right now). It's "The ABC's of Criting for Children", compiled by Elizabeth Koehler-Pentacoff, published by Quill Driver Books. It's filled with snippets from writers and illustrators, on their own experiences, and is very honest, and funny, too. It's a great book!

Sorry, that's "ABC's of Writing for Children". I had a typo in my first post.

Frizz,
I know you posed this question to Heather but i just wanted to chime in and have you check out this link.

The "CWIM" is full of great articles about the children's book market and has all the contact info and guidelines for submitting your samples.
Definitely a must have!
You can find it at your local bookstore or order it online through Amazon.

I've saved all mine from the last few years and go back over them every now and then. I love the articles and since they are written for all different levels in your career, you learn something new each time you read them.

You could also take it to your next scbwi meeting and see if someone would like it, newbies won't mind what year it is.
