Lynne Chapman continued

Last Friday I posted a video by Lynne Chapman, a wonderful children's book illustrator from the UK, who has done a little series of interviews on how she works as a children's book illustrator and specifically her process with her latest book Bears on the Stairs. Here is her latest installment, where she talks about how she plans out a book. She also explains how advances and royalties work. Visit her website for a lot more great information and a look into her world of fabulously whimisical characters and art.

I am so glad that I had the chance to come and see these wonderful and very informative videos on Illustrating a children's book. How fabulous was Lynne
s interview. I have been doing children's book illustrations for about a minute now, but I am always ready to learn something new and apply it. I don't consider myself as have arrived yet at all. There is always something to more to learn. This was so awesome and I am so glad that you found it and posted it. I get at least 5 emails a week asking me to illustrated a book or how to illustrate a book or break into publishing. I feel for each person that emails me and I feel the need to answer their very real questions. Now that I have seen this very fine interview I will be sure to send them here to have their questions answered. This was wonderful.

Thanks Vanessa....I always learn something new too when I visit Lynne's blog. Always reassuring when you see a successful illustrator talk about their process or the business side and you actually know what they're talking about! ;0)
