Picture books for when you itch, or your head falls off.
I grabbed this book at my library last week. I can't resist Delphine Durand's illustrations - but I was in awe of this cool little book about head lice. The writing is lyrical - and there's even a little romance. Sadly, it's out of print.
We have an amazing little nature and gift shop down the street, with an inspired book section. This gem from the UK caught my eye. Illustrated by Elena Odriozola, whom I blogged about here, it's hilarious and bizarre. All parts (including her bottom!) fall off of this non-vegetable eater. The message isn't surprising, but the images sure are. Here's another link, as it's also hard to find!

Who would think of creating a book about head lice?! Or about body parts falling off? Outrageous!! And I'd love to read these!
oh wow, I want this!!!lol Illos look amazing.
I have "Scritch Scratch". I love the illustrations, and the story is a hoot. How can head lice be so entertaining?? (We had an outbreak at the preschool I work at, and let me tell you, it really ain't all that wonderful! Luckily, I was spared.) :)
